Success of Efforts

We have so many children coming to classes here at the Women's Centre. We also have many women coming before lunch for half an hour to learn basic reading and writing. Many of our child students encourage their mothers to come and learn from our adult literacy classes.

We also have a new guard dog. Her name is Julie and she is very friendly during the day, but very dangerous at night.

today the weather is not good.the sun is very hot just day befor yesterday there is rain. but today is so hot. but women centre student's and women are coming without any problem.

Summer

The weather is very bad this summer. Yesterday, it rained, and the whole road was flooded. Everyone in Delhi was stuck for a minimum of one hour.

257 children are coming for classes at the Women's Centre despite the heat. We have computer classes now with a new computer lab.

We have a volunteer from England, Steve, who is coming every day to teach spoken English language classes.

The beautician classes have three batches of students and the stitching classes have two batches.

Trip to Haridwar

We taken Utpal and Meher to Haridwar for three days. They enjoyed the place very much. We took both of them to Fun Valli a place for water sports. Because the children like water in the summer. We all enjoyed the place and holiday.

Children's Outing

Today we took Utpal, Kiran, and Meher out for ice cream. Anou Ma'am came to the Women Centre to say hello to everyone, and then we headed to a nearby mall for a treat. The children enjoyed their ice cream, and then took a ride up to the top floor in the glass elevator. Next, each child chose a balloon. After that, we headed back.

Hot days in India

Every day is very hot in our center because there is no electricity in the afternoon. So we call all the classes down stairs in the women' room . But the program is still running. Because the children like our center, they want to read here. They want to play here. Because they think this place is our place.

Summer News

Utpal is here on vacation from boarding school. He is as hyperactive as ever and keeps everyone busy.

We are having our usual summer problems. Yesterday, there was a power cut that lasted for five hours! The classes on the roof are extremely hot. Many of the students have gone to their villages. However, we still have classes and do the best we can.

We had a special visit from Mr. Bakshi this Wednesday. He spent forty-five minutes here and advised us to buy the building! It was his first visit here so everyone was very excited to see him.

We also are planning to rebuild the shelter for the secondary section classroom on the roof, as it was almost destroyed during recent storms.

Summer is Starting

Things have been busy here for the last few weeks, but now that summer is starting, many of our students have gone away to their villages. They will be back in the Fall and many have requested that we reserve a spot for them in our classes!

The end of last month was very busy with Jhunnu, as we had hoped she would come and stay with us and we had prepared everything for her, but her husband decided against it, and her daughter also discouraged her.

Next week, we are expecting Utpal who will be on Summer Vacation from boarding school from May 16- July 2nd.

Exam Results

We have received all of our final exam results, and the news is very good: every student passed!
7 boys have come 1st in their class.
3 boys have come 2nd in their class.
3 boys have come 3rd in their class.
1 girl has come 1st in her class.
2 girls have come 2nd in their class.
1 girl has come 3rd in her class.

Happy Holi!

At the Women Centre, we had a small staff party for Holi with sweets, samosas, and soft drinks. We also celebrated with the children and gave everyone sweets. We did not have a big celebration as we did not want to interrupt the preparation for exams. Here you can see all the children studying together for exams.

A new resident

Today we have finally decided that Jhunnu will be coming tomorrow to join our residential program and start working with us. She has lived here before, but had to go away to treatment and now is ready to come back. Her room is ready and has recently been repainted. Everything looks nice and new.

The children are looking forward to Holi next week. We are not doing a big party because their exams have already started. We will have a simple celebration with sweets.
